Is there a way to adjust the volume for the speakers with the computer locked down?...

Typically there are hard buttons on the keyboard that can adjust volume

Ok are they pre set or do I have to set them? If so how?

It depends.on the computer and or keyboard manufacturer. There are also 3rd party volume utility apps available that can map  volume control to any keyboard keys you want. Just Google volume control software utilities.
