Word document file clicked doesn't work unless Word already open

Hi. I've recently installed new PCs with the multiapp lockdown v2 installed. Windows 7, Office 2003.

If our users browse to a folder, then double-click a Word document to open it, they get an error message "There was a problem sending the command to the program". Word opens in the background, but no document. With Word running, I try again and it works fine. Also opening using the File/open options in word work fine. Same is true with Excel.

How do I fix this?

Thanks

Try deleting this registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Office\11.0\Word\Data

that reg key didn't exist. I realised that Word and Excel had not been run at all before lockdown was enabled (it's a new PC). With lockdown disabled I opened the doc files and that worked ok - Word opened the files. Excel worked ok also. This created the regkeys and now it all works fine with lockdown enabled.

Thanks for your help
