Chrome Issues

If you're using Chrome for a kiosk application, you should be using Secure Lockdown - Chrome Edition. However, the behaviour you're mentioning is odd since Secure Lockdown - Standard Edition doesn't manipulate Chrome. If the "System Lockdown > Local Level > No Desktop" option is enabled, please try disabling it. Regarding the "...when they click on a portal button, it opens another tab..." issue, Inteset is developing a Chrome Extension that will prevent this problem. We will be publishing it on the Chrome Extensions Store next week. It is called "Inteset Chrome Kiosk Helper".

This Chrome Extension sounds like just what I need to add a "Back" button to the blocked website message page.  I'm using the software to provide shared computers for a group of users to check their company email.  If they click on a hyperlink in one of their email messages, they get a message that the website is blocked, but have no way to return to the previous page.

I downloaded and installed the extension via the admin user account I'm using to run Secure Lockdown for Chrome in kiosk mode.  I enabled the extension for incognito mode, but the "Back" button does not appear.

This is running on a fully patched 32-bit Win 7 Pro SP1 PC w/ the latest versions of Chrome & Secure Lockdown.

You will need to go into the Extension's Options page and enable the kiosk helper options.

I have Secure Lockdown for Chrome set to only allow webpages through https://*.google.com/* to get to my Gmail portal.

This was working fine until I installed and enabled the new extension in Chrome.  With the extension enabled, my portal page opens briefly, then an error page with a "This webpage is not available" message is displayed.  There is also a "Reload" button that is enabled, but clicking it just displays the same error message.

Disabling the Inteset extension in Chrome solves the problem, but I still want to get that extension working correctly to have the live "Back" button.

Does the extension try to open some other webpage outside of the google.com domain that I need to add to my allowed list?

Yes, you will need to add the extension's URL to the Secure Lockdown Allowed Sites list. This will be done automatically (and hidden) in our next build of Secure Lockdown. However, you can do it manually now using the following URL:

I added the Chrome extension item to the Allowed Websites list, but the problem remains.

In Secure Lockdown, I have the No Extensions check box un-checked, and in Chrome, I have the block new tabs and new web pages options enabled on the extension Options sheet.
