Inteset Secure Lockdown v2 - Chrome Edition

Hi,

We've set up 4 PCs using Inteset Secure Lockdown v2 - Chrome Edition to start in Incognito mode and basically limit most of the features except bookmarks bar for quick access to favorite sites.

Everything works fine, most addresses chrome://*/ are blocked, but...

I am logged in to chrome on those 4 PCs just to have it handy to manage settings, plugins and said bookmarks on admin PC that has the same user signed in to chrome.

When in incognito mode, after recent update going to the address chrome://bookmarks/ opens a new window that is no longer in incognito.

Can access to chrome://bookmarks/ be somehow disabled?

Thanks.

Do you have the Chrome Lockdown > Layout Options > No Edit Bookmarks option selected? If so, that should be blocking access to the "chrome://bookmarks/" URL.

I do indeed. If i turn off the new enhanced bookmark editor then it will block it (old editor opens in the same chrome instance in incognito). The new one bypasses that.

We will look into this and respond shortly regarding it. In the interim, please send your *.bac Secure Lockdown settings file to techsupport@inteset.com. You can generate a "*.bac" file by going to Help > Export/Import screen within the Secure Lockdown utility.

Thank you for bringing up this issue.

We've found the best solution to this problem is to revert to the previous version of the Chrome Bookmark Manager. You can do so by following these instructions:

1. Type "chrome://flags/#enhanced-bookmarks-experiment" in the address bar (without the quotes)
2.You should be at the section titled:

Enable Enhanced Bookmarks

3. In the drop-down for the "Enable Enhanced Bookmarks" section, select "Disabled"
4. At the bottom of your screen/page, click the "Relaunch Now" button. Your old Bookmark Manager should be back.

It seems the new bookmark feature did not inherit the incognito setting nor the Bookmark Manager blacklist feature Secure Lockdown incorporates. We have submitted a complaint with the Google Chrome development team as this seems to be an oversight in their programming.
